Coré Martín joined Christie & Co in January 2019 as Head of Investment for Spain & Portugal.
With more than 17 year of experience in the Spanish hotel business, Coré initiated his career at Sol Meliá in 1998. He worked for Marketing and Development, undertaking feasibility analysis and business plans in Europe and Northern Africa, and for Operations assisting the Resort Division VP in the daily management of 120 hotels in 9 Mediterranean countries. In year 2000 Coré Martín opened Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ office in Madrid as Director of Consultancy and Valuation, undertaking feasibility analysis, valuations, operator searches, etc. for national and international real estate companies and banks, and supporting the Investment team in the sale of assets. In 2005, he joined IREA as Associate of the Hotel Division, leading a team of 9 consultants specialised in feasibility, valuation, operator searches, finance search, and sale of hotels. At the end of 2007 he became Senior Director of Development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Spain and Portugal, task which he shared with the same position for Italy in 2010 and 2011 and for France from 2012 to February 2015. During these years, coinciding with the world economic crisis, he managed to sign 11 management, franchise and lease contracts in the three countries, participating in the analysis and negotiation of more than 100 different projects.
Coré Martín is BA in Tourism by the Escuela Oficial de Turismo, Madrid. He specialized in Total Quality Management in the hotel industry at the same school, sponsored by the Tourism Ministry of Spain. He completed his graduate studies in 1997 with a master’s degree on International Hotel Management by the Institut de Management Hôtelier International at Essec in París, sponsored by the Barceló Foundation. He additionally took part in the exchange program with Cornell University, Ithaca (NY, EEUU).
Coré Martín is a frequent speaker at hotel seminars and conferences and has published several articles in specialised magazines and newspapers. He equally cooperates with different educational institutions, including the IE where he lectured at the master’s degree on tourism management.
