Christie & Co is pleased to announce one of the last operations carried out at the end of 2016 in the province of Barcelona. The company has been involved in the search and selection of operator for a newly built hotel in Viladecans, just 20 km from the centre of Barcelona.

Viladecans Town Council, the initial owner of the site where the new Hotel will be built, awarded a long-term management contract to a private developer last year. The promoter, with no specific experience in the hotel sector, required specialised advice from the firm to find the best operator to obtain the desired profitability.

As a result of the operator search and selection process, Christie & Co contacted a range of hotel operators, which concluded with the signing of a long-term rental agreement with an internationally recognised brand, which will manage the new establishment after its Opening, scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.

The hotel, which will have a category of 4-stars superior, will enclose 201 rooms, meeting and event rooms, restaurant and cafeteria. The future hotel will be located next to the Viladecans business park.

The hotel plot has a building area of 10.000sqm in total; 1,000sqm will be allocated for the construction of a restaurant and a convention room that will serve both the hotel and the office area surrounding the project along with the new Outlet "The Style Outlets" in Viladecans.

Carlos Nieto, Associate Director at Christie & Co and responsible for this project, comments: "Without doubt, the development of strategic projects oriented to leisure, entertainment and business in Viladecans make this municipality a very attractive environment for the hotel sector."

Also, Inmaculada Ranera, Managing Director for Spain and Portugal, states: "Towns that surround Barcelona now have a great potential for hotel growth. The difficulties that operators are finding in Barcelona due to changes in regulations offer the cities surrounding the Catalan capital a unique opportunity to attract investment such as Viladecans”.
