Specialist property adviser Christie & Co is pleased to announce the reopening of its Madrid office, with the appointment of Carlos Nieto as Associate Director. Carlos will be in charge of the provision and development of Christie & Co Consultancy Services in Madrid. He will be reporting to Inmaculada Ranera, Managing Director for Spain and Portugal at Christie & Co.
Christie & Co is proud to reopen its office in the capital, betting once again on the reactivation of the hotel market in Spain. The market is going through an undeniable growth after the crisis, and Spain and Portugal are still very attractive countries for international investors. Our Madrid office will be the second Christie office in Spain, and number 15 in Europe, apart from the 16 offices that Christie & Co has in the UK.
Inmaculada Ranera comments: “After some very difficult years for the hotel brokerage sector, the positive development of the hotel market during these years of crisis shows the resilience of the sector. The availability of more funding though banks allows local and international investors to concentrate their efforts in Madrid, so it is the right time to have presence in the capital. The appointment of Carlos Nieto, who has proven experience, which we are pleased to incorporate into Christie & Co, will be the boost that we actually need to keep growing in Spain and to be nearer to our clients’ needs.”
Before joining Christie & Co, Carlos gained industry experience while working for the Hotel Expansion Team in Metrovacesa and the International Adviser Horwath HTL. He also drove the Hotel Consultancy Department in Ascana and for the last few years, he developed his own Hotel Consultancy Company, Hotel Investment Solutions S.L, where he carried out numerous consulting and asset management projects in Spain and Portugal, including assessments, feasibility studies, operator searches, due diligence studies and asset transactions.  He has also worked for Vincci Hoteles S.A., in its delegations on the United States.
Moreover, Carlos is in charge of Expansion in Spain & Portugal for the German hotel chain operator Meininger Hotels and Spanish hotel chain operator Doble H Hoteles, a position that he will develop on behalf of Christie & Co.
Commenting on his recruitment, Carlos says: “It’s such an honour to be part of the team at Christie & Co in Spain, with the Madrid Office opening, which undoubtedly will be a strategic target for the upcoming years. From Madrid, we will help to promote the revival of the Spanish hotel market, making the most of the opportunities that this new stage we are facing offers. Once we have overcome the worst of the financial and property crisis that we have suffered in recent years, it is time to bring confidence to national and international investors, displaying the viability of Madrid and the Spanish tourism sector.”
Moreover, Christie & Co has also announced changes and expansion to their International team that reflect the growing importance of key offices and markets. Andreas Scriven became International Managing Director of Christie & Co in 2014 and as part of his remit he has reviewed the workings of the International team and has managed the introduction of an Asia desk and new appointments in our European offices including Spain, Stockholm and Ireland. The strengthening of the International team and office network further enhance the ability to deliver best-in-class products and services to our clients by leveraging the team's local knowledge and global reach.
Regarding the German market, which plays an important role in Christie & Co’s international offering, Lukas Hochedlinger, Managing Director for Austria and Business Development Manager for CEE, has been promoted and will be taking on the additional responsibility of the German and Polish offices. At the same time, recognising the opportunities to expand the company’s reach and services in the French market, Florence Mebrouk has been appointed Managing Director, and will be responsible for expanding the Christie & Co business in France.
Andreas Scriven, International Managing Director & Head of Consultancy at Christie & Co comments: “What ties our teams together is a sense of collaboration and commitment to client service, with these changes to our International team we are growing an already strong team who work closely with each other and with the Corporate team based in London. Each new appointment fills specific requirements in the markets and each new team member brings strengths and talents to suit each individual market. We are looking forward to building on the stellar work of our team and welcome Florence, Carlos and Patrick to the pan-European team.”
